Nürnberg - Neunhof (Lauf) - Schnaittach und zurück

Vor Kalchreuth, blick zurück zum Sebalder Reichsforst

Aufbruch von Nürnberg, nachdem dieser leichte morgenregen vorbei war. Über Buchenbühl (340m) und dann weiter den Loeschweg (das ist eine echte straße, sporadisch mit 60km/h ausgeschildert) hoch nach Kalchreuth (410m). Das lässt sich auch mit gepäck ganz gut bewältigen. In der Tat kann man dann auf etwa der gleichen höhenlinie über Groß- und Kleingeschaidt und Tauchersreuth fahren bevor es hurtig runter nach Neunhof (360m) geht.

Von Neunhof arbeitet man sich dann eine sanft gekurvte nebenstraße auf wieder etwas 400m hoch und im schuss geht's runter nach Bullach und Herpersdorf. Noch mal hoch nach Laipersdorf, wo der hopfen fürs Lammsbräu wächst, und Untersdorf. Von dort ist es schon nicht mehr weit bis nach Schnaittach. Interessante friedhofsanlage mit blick auf die feste Rothenberg.

Zurück bin ich fast die gleiche strecke gefahren. Die anstiege hinter Bullach und dann von Neunhof nach Tauchersreuth lassen sich erstaunlich flüssig fahren.

In Großbellhofen hätte es einen abzweig nach Lillinghof gegeben. Die speisekarte in Lillinghof ist sehr fränkisch, aber in Neunhof konnte ich einen kräuterpfannkuchen mit spargel bekommen.

Zurück hatte ich eigentlich über Wolfshöhe/Dehnberg fahren wollen; doch leider verlockte mich in Schnaittach die "Simonshofer Straße", die etwas nach der autobahn in bösen wald- und trimmwegen endet...

Schnaittach and the Rothenberg Fortification

Early Sunday morning I left Nuremberg for a trip to Schnaittach and the Rothenberg fortification (draft of a Google map), located 25 km northeast of Nuremberg and 561 m high, a south tip of Franconian Switzerland. Warm weather and little west wind, perfect conditions. Via Behringersdorf, Rückersdorf, and Lauf a.d. Pegnitz I reached Neunkirchen a. Sand around 10 o'clock, where I took the first photos today; church with two towers, a castle like arrangement.

Nice passage through a small forrest and plain fields with the Rothenberg castle at the horizont, eastwards in front of me. I could not resist and took short videos (train crossing my way, birds making noise, and the Rothenberg). The Rothenberg fortification in its current extension was constructed by the Bavarians against Nuremberg in the first half of the 18th cent. It was never finished and fall into ruins since 19th cent.—today the Bayerische Schlösser- und Gärtenverwaltung spends much money for preservation.

Homewards down the Rothenberg via Rabenshof, Kersbach, Rollhofen, Nürnberger Spitalwald, Simonshofen, (Neunhof, nice view), Oedenberg, and through the Sebald forrest back to Nuremberg.
